For nearly four decades, retired U.S. Army Sergeant Lyn Buchanan has occupied a unique position at the intersection of military intelligence, remote viewing, and UFO research. A former member of the Army’s highly classified psychic intelligence program at Fort Meade, Maryland, Buchanan’s experiences have become the stuff of legend among researchers of consciousness and the paranormal.
In a recent interview, Buchanan made some of the most extraordinary claims of his long career, discussing everything from remote viewing Saddam Hussein and alien installations on Earth to operating a UFO and encountering extraterrestrial intelligences.
Whether one views his statements as profound revelations, psychological phenomena, or speculative narratives, they offer a remarkable glimpse into a worldview where consciousness itself becomes humanity’s most powerful technology.
The Psychic Spy Program
Buchanan entered the Army’s remote viewing program under unusual circumstances.
According to his account, while stationed in Germany as a computer specialist, he experienced a burst of psychokinetic energy during an episode of intense anger that allegedly disabled computer systems across multiple military facilities. The incident reportedly attracted the attention of Major General Albert Stubblebine III, then commander of Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM), who was actively searching for individuals with unusual psychic abilities.
Transferred to Fort Meade, Buchanan was introduced to Controlled Remote Viewing (CRV), a methodology developed by artist and psychic Ingo Swann under contracts sponsored by U.S. intelligence agencies.
“The Army didn’t want psychics,” Buchanan explained. “They wanted ordinary soldiers who could be trained to know what was over the next hill.”
Unlike traditional psychic practices, CRV was structured as a disciplined, repeatable protocol. Through a series of increasingly sophisticated stages, practitioners learned to extract information from what Buchanan describes as the subconscious mind’s access to nonlocal information.
Over time, he claims, remote viewers became capable of producing detailed descriptions of foreign military installations, strategic plans, technological systems, and even psychological profiles of world leaders.
Viewing Saddam Hussein
One of Buchanan’s most significant targets was Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
According to Buchanan, Saddam was viewed repeatedly during the Gulf War era, allowing intelligence analysts to anticipate his intentions and movements.
“He believed completely that God wanted him to rule the world,” Buchanan said. “Anyone who opposed that was evil and had to be destroyed.”
Perhaps more intriguing was Buchanan’s claim that remote viewing revealed hidden facilities beneath Saddam’s personal compounds. During one session, he became fixated on a seemingly ordinary generator building. Upon further examination, he perceived a concealed entrance beneath the structure leading to a substantial underground weapons cache.
Whether accurate or not, such examples illustrate how remote viewing was allegedly employed not merely for surveillance but for uncovering hidden infrastructure and strategic assets.
Alien Bases on Earth
Among the most controversial aspects of Buchanan’s testimony are his descriptions of extraterrestrial installations allegedly located on Earth.
These claims trace back to earlier remote viewers such as Pat Price, who reported discovering four major alien bases:
- Mount Hayes, Alaska
- Mount Zeil, Australia
- Mount Inyangani, Zimbabwe
- Mount Perdido in the Pyrenees
Buchanan states that he later revisited several of these locations through remote viewing and found results consistent with Price’s original observations.
According to Buchanan, Mount Hayes functions primarily as an intelligence-gathering facility, while Mount Zeil serves as a “port of entry” where extraterrestrial craft arrive and depart.
Most strikingly, he claims that some of these installations contain both human and nonhuman personnel working side by side.
At Mount Zeil, Buchanan described what appeared to be a multi-level facility operating much like an airport, complete with docking areas, maintenance sections, and travelers moving between locations.
“The friendly ones come through there,” he said. “Then they spread out around the world.”
The UFO Hangar and the Control Panel
One of the most startling moments in the interview involved Buchanan’s claim that he encountered actual UFO technology in a military facility.
While visiting a secure installation for unrelated work, he reportedly noticed what appeared to be a control panel.
Immediately recognizing it, he allegedly blurted out:
“That’s out of a UFO.”
The reaction, he says, was swift.
Military personnel quickly removed him from the facility and warned him never to discuss what he had seen.
Why did he recognize the panel?
Because, according to Buchanan, he had operated one before.
The Abduction Experience
Buchanan recounted a decades-old experience that he says he remembered only years later.
While sleeping alone in a rural church parsonage, he heard something land outside. Moments later, he found himself aboard what he described as a craft occupied by small gray beings and larger humanoids.
At one point, a gray entity invited him into the pilot’s area and demonstrated how the vehicle functioned.
The craft allegedly used a hand-imprint control system. The pilot placed his fingers over specific openings in a panel, causing the craft to respond. Buchanan was eventually allowed to try it himself.
“I learned how to do it,” he recalled.
The experience became particularly significant years later when he encountered what appeared to be the same control technology inside a military hangar.
The recognition was immediate.
The implications were unsettling.
Mars, Titan, and Bilocation
One of Buchanan’s specialties was what remote viewers call “Perfect Site Integration”—a state in which awareness becomes so completely immersed in a target location that the viewer experiences it as physical reality.
Using this method, he claims to have visited Mars.
During one session, Buchanan found himself standing inside a partially buried structure amid a red desert landscape. Months later, he reportedly saw NASA imagery that matched the geometry and orientation of what he had observed.
More extraordinary still were his descriptions of large, atrophied beings living within Martian structures and encounters with incomprehensibly alien entities on Saturn’s moon Titan.
Of all his experiences, Buchanan says the Titan encounter was the most unsettling.
“I could tell they were thinking,” he explained. “But there was absolutely no translation. No understanding. Nothing. It was the most alien thing I’ve ever encountered.”
The Four Categories of Extraterrestrials
Buchanan’s decades of remote viewing led him to propose a simple classification system for extraterrestrial civilizations.
He divides them into four broad categories:
- Friendly and more psychically advanced than humanity.
- Friendly and equal to or less psychically capable than humanity.
- Hostile and more psychically advanced.
- Hostile and equal to or less psychically advanced.
According to Buchanan, psychic ability is the defining characteristic that separates civilizations.
The most advanced species possess extraordinary mental capabilities but often exhibit limited technological development compared to humans. Humanity, he argues, may be technologically sophisticated while remaining relatively undeveloped in consciousness.
In his view, future human evolution depends not merely on technological advancement but on developing latent psychic abilities.
Consciousness as Humanity’s Next Frontier
Throughout the interview, Buchanan repeatedly returned to one central theme: consciousness itself.
Remote viewing, he argues, is not supernatural.
Rather, it is a trainable skill that enables communication with deeper levels of awareness.
As humanity expands into space, Buchanan believes psychic development may become as important as technological development.
“If we develop our psychic ability,” he said, “we are going to be a power in the universe.”
That statement encapsulates the worldview underlying all of Buchanan’s experiences.
In this perspective, UFOs, extraterrestrials, remote viewing, and psychic phenomena are not separate mysteries. They are facets of a larger reality in which consciousness transcends space, time, and physical limitations.
